I believe there is one God.I do not believe in religion. I believe he wants all of love one another and take care of one another. We need to appreciate all the beautiful things that God has put on the earth for us. Each day I take joy in appreciating all the elements of nature including each sunrise and sunset painted in his glory. Then I look at all his children and marvel at the miracles and talents each of them have to develop, love to listen to their voices, watch them dance, play, gymnastics etc such budding talent.

Non JW view yes that kid wants to go have fun in the snow And why not OH the WT says we have to go preach!! Kids need to be kids first. Just like when I read the book on Families, I pointed out to the Elder, God gave each of us talents and by not allowing the kids to participate in after school programs you are not naturing those talent. You are also giving an impression that you are so much better then everyone else.
This is definitely setting these kids up for df and shunning what a horrible religion. And the Elder was trying to convince me, yeah right. Yeap I stay convinced I believe in God still do not believe in religion and sticking to it! !!

Well, I asked a question and his answer blew me away
by Lost his mind infirst time, been lurking for years, but i asked my husband who has been studying for 20 plus years if he has ever questioned those that were "teaching" him.
blew my mind.
i ask him all the questions that you have asked yourself, but he will not ask them.

Steve2, had I been in a KH in Feb when that Noah cartoon had played I would not have required a mic. I conduct meetings without mics with 100 people in the room and can be heard perfectly fine. I had a child with Epstein Barre virus who missed the better part of 10th grade because he could not stay awake for more then 20 minutes. Kids get sick all the time. That is the most emotionally abusive piece of crap I have seen I would have left them known it on the spot!!! -

WingCommander, no sex and we always met up at least 2 hours away from his home area as I traveled through his state which was quite frequent. We talk on the phone 4 or 5 times a day. I realize now he was trying to suggest that I make changes in my life, like drop membership in organizations. "How I read the Bible". Those comments went in one ear and out the other! One of his parting comments was "you fight everything you disagree with". I am sure that is why he did not discuss the JW beliefs directly with me. He knew I was a Certified Adult Volunteer for a youth organization we are trained to recognize emotional, physical and sexual abuse (not investigate) any signs we dial 911.

OK, so here is my intro to the JW world. I was seeing an Elder for 5 years the ONLY introduction to his religion up till that point was we do not believe in the cross, so out of respect I would remove my cross whenever we met up. So finally he gave me the publication on families " to see how I would react." Well when I got to the part about kids and school no participation the book went flying across the room. I will add at this point I am and he knew from all of the discussion that I am into child development - education, social skills, after school programs etc. He even knew I played a large role in having a pedophile put in prison for 15 years.
So, I really did not want to come across as to angry so I just sent an email asking a simple question what if a child shows a great interest in say choir could they participate in the after school program.
Response. No. My response - why not. Elders response: Good bye have a nice life.

Ties at the Kingdom Hall
by CloseTheDoor incouple of weeks ago an elder took a young man aside and crawled all over him after the tms for wearing a "skinny" tie.
it was one of those 2 inch wide ties.
nothing bright or scandalous about.

On the Way Out, I love your ties they are perfect. When this worldly person (me) after 5 years got the famous email that said goodbye have a nice life from an elder one of his sentences was you fight everything you disagree with. Well of course. The organization I belong to has rules too, we are supposed to wear long white gowns and our shoulders are to be covered. Mine were off white and the shoulder never covered. When my daughter joined at 18 her gowns conformed in no way. Never a word said. Two reasons -- 1) do not burn the money maker of the organization and the hardest worker. 2) although they did not conform they were very tasteful and elegant. -

Worldly person's observation of all these videos and all these GBs. First I have NOT been impressed by any of the GBs. I say: BUY stock in duct tape, I think they need a very large supply in NY. Second, I have a question maybe one of you can answer there seems to be something missing from each of these videos. For a religious organization where is the "let's say a prayer"? Just seems odd to me, that at no point during these outrageous performances they do not even ask for a prayer. -

Would you give your life for those that shun you?
by Esse quam videri in'no one has greater love than this, that someone would lay down his life for his friends.'.
many have been hurt by the practice of shunning.

I have to agree with cookiemaster. I have spent my entire life forgiving my family (mother and sister). I am not a JW or ex-JW. I am actually the one who decides to walk away from them for long periods of time because of their attitudes but yes I do return to them every last time -- in their time of need. AND, yet again the one who ends up getting hurt in the end will be me and I will walk away again. But one is an alcoholic and the other is addicted to prescription drugs and neither can fully function on their own. -

Daniel,
I am also a Worldly person but much older then you. I will tell you listen to these fine people. The reason I am here (5 1/2 years to late in my opinion) I met my Prince Charming the nicest man I have ever met, very sweet, caring, sensitive, yada, yada, yada I think you get the point. Of course this was a long distance romance we would always meet on the other side of his state as I traveled through the state which was very frequently. He met my entire family but I never met nor talked to this ELDER'S family. We talked about all of them down to each one of the grandchildren DAILY. Now when I say daily I mean 5 or 6 times a day we talked. My daughter is in her early 20's now and was either in the room or in the car and overheard many of these conversations. The point to this is these active JW's people LIE, LIE, LIE to get you hooked!!!! After five intense years, when this man realized that there was NO WAY I would become a Witness out of clear blue sky one day I received the following email. "Good Bye, Have A Nice Life" Hey, he did not even bother to sign it.
The only things over the five years that he had face to face or over the phone that he told me about the JW's was that they do not believe in the Cross. Then just prior to the email event he gave me their book on families, well I sent him an email asking minor questions regarding differences about pronoun differences and why girls were not trained as same as boys. Comparing the New King James Bible. I DID NOT go into my Child Advocacy Issues of why children were not allowed to do after school programs etc. I wanted to go gently into these things (never go the chance). I was unaware you do not question ANYTHING.
I tried everything to get him to respond to me but he had decided I guess to shun me. I said something that struck a cord with him so he started sending me daily 4 & 5 page emails of Bible verses & sermons. OK NOW after about 20 days of this I am getting really DONE, I send him an email titled ROASTED, TOASTED, DEEP FRIED, BBQ; first line of email stated that I have the address of 3 local KH's I will take ALL of your emails to them have them explain your emails and YOU to me. You now need to answer all questions that are in red in your words, not using any Bible verses. And I am thoroughly done with all of this Satan stuff of yours so do not be bringing up Satan because I do believe you worship him far more then you worship Jehovah. There were a lot of questions that he had to answer but just a sample: 1) How come over 5 years did you forget that you were married until just the other day? 2) What part of these were you going to attempt to change first about me to get me to become a Witness: A) I am a very strong Child Advocate (HUGE) (put pedophile in prison for 15 yrs., big, big on education); B) Same on Women's Advocate; C) Over 40+ years in the Masonic Community; D) I believe in God and I am extremely spiritual -- I DO NOT believe in Religion; E) I am not Gay -- but I am a Gay activist because of being brought up in the gay community and the support I have received from the gay community in my business. I will add that he knew all of this about me and my stand on all of these points. He answered most of the questioned asked. He claimed he never mentioned his wife "for her protection", now I know he said he cooked casseroles on Sundays and they lasted all week, He did all his laundry on a certain day of the week. Everything was singular. Either he was EXTREMELY careful....... I am just so confused as to where the lying started, stopped or if there was ever any truth in what he ever said to me. Anyway his final email stated and my daughter just about had to be revived " all of our conversations were as an advisory and counselor and were ALL Bible based because I felt sorry for you.... I never gave you more then a compassionate hug." My girlfriend nicknamed him the "Devil" , my daughter nicknamed him "Flaming Idiot Jerk".
Daniel, I am telling you RUN, do not pass GO, do not get involved with active JW. The one's who are awake and now the TRUTH are OK but the ones who do not man watch out, this shunning thing is terrible and the way they raise their children - research it before you do it!!!!! No sports, no after school programs, no school friends. Check it out before you do it!!!!!!! I am a Certified Adult Volunteer for a youth organization we dial 911 for a bruise on a child, we do not ask questions we let them ask the questions. Ask anyone one this site how that differs from the JW's.
